The art, the coloring, the story, the pop sensibility, the references (there is an alien named Mott from the planet Hoople) ... it all comes together in an exuberant wash of ginchiness that encapsulates everything that is good about comics.

I don't have this particular edition, but I own every Madman issue ever published, and highly recomend them to anyone who enjoys reading....

Description: I bought this on recommendation from a friend's housemate, who recommended it to me asI bought this on recommendation from a friend's housemate, who recommended it to me as a writer, when I was on the verge of moving to New York.

I'm not sure, had I found a copy in my first year of being there, that I would have appreciated the recommendation.

However, it took me three years to track down a copy (in a handy re-issue), and all three titles are amazing. Disorienting, verbally beautiful, and some of the best modern writing around. Paul Auster has few equals right now, and I'll read anything he writes....

II bought this in the Brown College Bookstore, on College Hill in Providence, RI.

I had heard a lot of buzz about it, but knew very little of the plot beyond what you can make out from the cover: a boy stuck in a lifeboat with a tiger.

It turned out to be so very much more than that. I dare say I love this book....
